This is the second TF2RJweekly jumping competition! Beginnings 2013 was fun, but several important changes have been made, including the addition of the new trickjump competition and significant changes to the way the speedrunning competition will work. All details are below. Sorry for the wall of text, I tried to bold the important things for people who are lazy.Prize Pool Donation Link: https://steamcommunity.com/tradeoffer/new/?partner=101170748&token=W9iMCxOjSpeedrun Competition (November 30th - December 21st)The speedrunning competition will be very different this year. There will be
3 maps per class, all released at the same time (November 30th). There will only be
one easy, medium, and hard map per class. You can choose to run only one or two maps, or all three. Players can participate in both the demo and soldier competitions.
Speedrun rules are the same as last year (here). Outside of simple things like rocket jump or ctap scripts, no plugins/scripts or similar things of any type are allowed. This includes freeze glitching, bounce alert or any similar plugin, and abusing the wait command. The
submission deadline is December 21st for speedruns.

Medium soldier - jump_above by sitood and Splash4Damage
Hard soldier - jump_apex by obsidiian
Easy demo - jump_crypt by Sere and Electro
Medium demo - jump_internal by sitood
Hard demo - jump_isak by Brock
How to submit your runsHow to name your demosName your demo in this format:
map_time_name_tick_demotypeExample: apex_6_25_3_gebobus_15600_pov
This would be a 6:25.3 run on jump_apex by gebobus that starts at tick 15600. Naming your demo correctly makes it much easier to find and watch demos. This took a lot of time last year so hopefully with this system it will be a lot faster.
Please try and include both POV and STV demos! It's really difficult to edit a video well with no stv demo.

If everyone can follow these guidelines, it will make it a lot easier and faster to go over all of the submissions. This was a very time consuming and tedious process last year, so please try and help us out by taking an extra minute to format everything correctly.Points and PrizesLast year, points were awarded to the top 100 times. Unfortunately, this took a ton of time, and there were often far less than 100 entries. Because of this,
there will only be points awarded to the top 5 times. If everything is going quickly enough, we may create a chart with more than 5 times so everyone can see how they compare to other people, but this is not currently a top priority.
Point Breakdown1st - 40 points
2nd - 25 points
3rd - 15 points
4th - 10 points
5th - 5 pointsWhile this may seem like a somewhat harsh point dropoff past 2nd place, the goal is to prevent people from being forced to place in the top 1 or 2 spots against someone who simply gets a top 5 or 3 time on all 3 maps. First place is significantly awarded in order to discourage a winner who simply places 2nd or 3rd on all 3 maps. We are open to suggestions for changes to the point system, but we probably won't be making any huge changes to it.
Prize BreakdownThe prize pool will be
split as evenly as possible between soldier and demo. Prizes for high placing map times will be a little more significant this year than last year.
Overall Placement (40% of class prize pool)1st place for a class - 25% of class prize pool
2nd - 10%
3rd - 5%Map Runs (60% of class prize pool)1st place on a map - 12% of class prize pool
2nd - 5%
3rd - 3%This system is set up so that
people who don't have enough time to run all 3 maps still have a chance at winning some significant prizes by winning maps. While 25% of a class prize pool may not seem like a lot, anyone who wins first overall will have probably won at least one map, so they should get a pretty good amount of prizes.
Trickjump Competition (November 23rd - December 7th and December 14th)The second big change to Beginnings 2 this year is that there will be a trickjump competition! There will be
3 parts, the soldier, demo, and co-op (any class) trickjump categories. Anybody can submit as many jumps as they want to each category. However, you can only win once per category.
How to submit your jumpsEverything is pretty similar to submitting runs, but there are some important differences.
How to name your demosName your demo in this format:
jump_category_name(s)_tick_demotypeExample (solo jump): jump_soldier_brock_38200_pov
Example (co-op jump): jump_coop_brock_obsidiian_27900_stv
Please try and include both POV and STV demos! It's really difficult to edit a video well with no stv demo.

Again, this may seem like a pain, but it's really helpful to us and it speeds up the demo-watching process by a lot.
Trickjump Rules - No noclip
- No getpos/setpos in the middle of the jump
- No jumps with altered gravity
- No creating maps just to do a jump
- No modifying stats of weapons
- No giving classes weapons they aren't supposed to have (for example, using plugins to give a medic a rocket launcher
- No bhopAnything else is allowed unless it's something I forgot that obviously shouldn't be allowed.
Trickjump DeadlinesSoldier and demo solo trickjumps must be submitted before midnight EST on December 7th
Co-op trickjumps must be submitted before midnight EST on December 14thJumps submitted after the deadline will not be considered!!!Trickjump JudgingObviously, trickjump competitions are a matter of opinion. If your jump doesn't get picked, that doesn't mean it sucked. It just means that we thought it wasn't the best jump. There will be
5 trickjump judges. Trickjumps will be judged on
3 main things: originality, difficulty, and visual appeal. Jumps that have been done before will obviously be a lot less impressive than new jumps. Similarly, an original but super easy jump isn't as likely to win the competition as a hard one. Visual appeal concerns how fun the jump is to watch. Slow and boring jumps like wallpogo are unlikely to win a competition against faster and more interesting ones, even if the wallpogo is difficult and original.
The top 3 trickjumps from each class will be combined into a sort of mini jump movie if time permits.
Trickjump PrizesSolo (demo and soldier)1st place for a class - 5 keys
2nd - 3 keys
